Creating a Thriving Herb Garden: Tips for Beginners

Starting your own herb garden can be a rewarding and manageable project.

1. Pick Easy Herbs

  • Start with basil, mint, parsley, or rosemary—perfect for beginners.

2. Find a Sunny Spot

  • Look for 6–8 hours of sunlight on a windowsill or balcony. Use a grow light if needed.

3. Use Containers with Drainage

  • Choose pots with holes so water doesn’t pool and cause root rot.

4. Water Just Enough

  • Water when soil is dry about an inch down, keeping it moist but not soggy.

5. Harvest Often

  • Trim leaves regularly to help herbs grow back fuller and bushier.

"A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."

– Greek Proverb
